Road improvement scheme worth £250,000 for Howden

Road improvement scheme worth £250,000 for Howden: Road scheme Howden 1 wide 2-10-23

A road improvement scheme worth £250,000 is to get underway in Howden.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is investing in the upgrade of the B1230 Northolmby Street and Selby Road in the town, with work due to start on Monday 16 October.

The scheme is expected to take seven weeks to complete.

The first phase will involve drainage repairs along both Selby Road and Northolmby Street, followed by footpath resurfacing along Northolmby Street.

Road resurfacing will then be carried out between Bridgegate junction and Duck Swang bridge on Selby Road.

The work is to be carried between 8am and 5pm on weekdays, weather permitting.

It will be necessary to carry out the work under road closures for the safety of drivers and the workforce, and to minimise disruption to traffic.

A signed diversion will be put in place via A63 Barnhill Lane, A63 Boothferry Road, A63 Knedlington Re.oad, A614 Boothferry Road, B1230 Hull Road, B1230 Flatgate and B1230 Bridgegate.

The work will be carried out by the council’s own road maintenance team, as part of the council’s capital programme of planned road improvements.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s portfolio holder for environment and transport, said: “We’d like to thank residents and motorists in advance for bearing with us while this scheme is complete.

“These repairs are necessary in order to improve this road in Howden.”
